The Department of Sociology in collaboration with Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN) Project, National Mental Health Programme, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim organised the sixth and final monthly screening programme for the year 2025 on Friday, 7th November in the college library.
The present initiative aims to screen all the first year students of the college who are transitioning from school to college life, and therefore, might be in need of assessment and necessary support. Around 110 first year UG students from the Social Sciences and Humanities stream participated in the exercise. The screening process was conducted by 12 student screeners from the Departments of Sociology, Lepcha and History along with 3 counsellors from Gangtok and Ranipool Upper Primary Health Centres (UPHCs).
Dr. Nancy C. Lhasungpa, Department of Sociology, NBBGC was present to ensure smooth conduct of the programme.
